Church Youth Choir

I am so proud of my youth choir. Today they sang "There Is A Green Hill" and they were wonderful. They are such troopers. We all know that not every teenager likes to sing...especially in church. But our ward leaders want the youth to sing at every homecoming and farewell. Therefore, we have an on-going youth choir. All the youth age 12-18 are in the choir, whether they like to sing or not. And I am the luckiest person in the world, because they are so kind to me. I know they don't all want to be there, all the time. But they stay for practice, they show up to perform, and they are growing in so many ways.

Today we started working on our next song, "True To The Faith," which will be performed in the middle of June. I love you kids!!! You are AWESOME!!!

Dear fellow musicians,

I am a musician and music teacher from St. George, Utah. My husband has just recently passed away, leaving me with five young children to raise alone. I have spent the past few months trying to figure out what I want to do as a career to continue to raise my children and pay my bills. I am qualified to do several things. However, I have found that my desire is to do something that doesn’t require working with masses of people at one time, such as teaching.

I am a sheet music transcriber. I have done that off and on for years and I am very good, and very quick at it. I have decided that that is what I want to do, but I need you. I know that some of you do not need this service, as you are capable of writing, transcribing and publishing your own music. However, I am aware that many of you are awesome writers and performers, but do not know how to put your music on paper.

This is where I can step in. Please consider me for your work. In the long run it is a very smart decision, as most people in the world are searching for your sheet music the minute they hear the recording. They want to play it, too.

Even if you personally don’t need my services, maybe you know someone who might. I would be happy to work with anyone, no matter how new or seasoned an artist he or she is.

Why I do this work....

Song transcriptions have always been easy for me to do. I write my own music. I play the piano fine. I love to sing, and always wanted to be a singer, but I was not blessed with a profusely pleasant voice. I am a good choir director, but I can't babysit kids well enough to continue to teach in the schools. I was a great private teacher in my day, but that now gives me anxiety. I was working on my Masters' at Boston University, School of Music. I have only two classes left. However, I am taking a small break from that as I get used to being a full-time mom.

So here I am. I do need to work. But I need to do something that will work with my needs and the needs of my children.

Sheet music transcriptions seem like the obvious choice. And I can be in my studio working - alone. That sounds so nice. Since I have been raising children my entire life, it will be nice to spend some time alone, doing creative work that I enjoy.
